Happy Baby

I feel like I've been posting negative things about Vera.

Instead, I'm going to post a bunch of pictures of her doing things she likes ;-)

She likes gardening

Thats her and Opa (Simon's dad) with their strawberry plants

She likes Rock Climbing

(This was in the saftey of Gandie & Opa's backyard)

She likes watching triathalon (ok, more like sleeping during triathalons)

She likes the activity mat, sometimes; 

When I can steal it from Peyton....

She likes going for walks (ok, standing in our front patio usually)...

She likes her Joovy Spoon (without wheels and lots of padding to help her sit up)

She likes Tummy Time (when she's supposed to be napping)

And of course she loves:

Baths

Eating

Ok, more like sleeeeeeping after eating, you thought I would really post her eating ;)

 (The blog I was going to write was about how she HATES bottles and pacifiers).

One final one, she LOVES lunches with Daddy!

The Infamous "Blowout"

I had heard of these, seen other people's pictures of them....

Then the reality happens.

This wasn't the 1st one. But this was the first one that we were out of the house and TOTALLY unprepared for. I didn't have any more diapers OR clothes....

Miranda called the concierge, it was $14 for a size 4 diaper....what?!? No thanks.

I had an extra insert for a cloth diaper.

So, we put that on her then wrapped her in the hotel towel for the car ride home ;)

This one was lucky enough to happen when I put her on OUR bed for a minute while I put clothes on....AWESOME!

I probably needed to wash the sheets anyway.

And then this happened.....

There was so much poop in the diaper that it wouldn't hold pee, so the pee went all over me. Good thing I don't wear nice clothes (or leave the house much)!

It's amazing really.

I feel like there are a large number of these. I may have a diaper problem. Actually, I was planning to use cloth diapers but haven't really had a functioning washing machine and thought her poo would ruin all the cloth diapers so we're still using disposable. Plus, I've been trying to use up the size 1 even though she really needs to be in size 2, so I should really blame myself :-)

Car rides

"I just put the baby in the car seat, then went to Target and walked around the store".

"I would drive around so the baby would go to sleep, then keep driving to keep the baby asleep".

Oh man. Hasn't been my experience!!

And the more I talk about it, more mom's have the same experience as I've had.

Sweet Vera Lynn seems to HATE the car seat I bought. If I even make the motion of starting to put her in it, she gets hysterical.

It's the Peg Perego 4-35 bucket seat. I've checked it around 100 times for a sharp shard of glass or something that is cutting her when I put her in it causing her to shriek, but it seems to be as comfy as a pillow bed....

Maybe it's the bow?

Ok, maybe she really hates bows...

But then these happened:

Then today:

Sleeping?!?!

I have no clue what happened either of these times but I want to cherish them forever so I don't continue to have anxiety even THINKING about leaving the house.

Here's why we left the house today;

Moving on.

My Aunt Jane (my mom's sister, when you see the picture, you'll know) and Uncle Louis are visiting from Suffern, NY!

Today we had such a great day just hanging out at my mom's house and enjoying each other's company. 

Then we went to the outlets ;) Vera was an angel baby. She loved looking at all the clothes and being apart of the action. She actually sat in her car seat in the stroller for a while!! Then we used the stroller for a shopping cart.

SVL: 10 weeks

Sweet Vera Lynn is 10 weeks today!

Man, I'm not very good at keeping up with blogging.

I'm going to try a different approach and post just a pic (or multiple) with a short written piece during Vera's afternoon nap. It will force me to take more pictures so I have good ones to post.

I start back to work in two weeks from tomorrow 😩 so we're trying to get be more consistent giving Vera a bottle to transition. 

She has taken a few bottles from Simon, my mom and my MIL, but yesterday she didn't want to have ANYTHING to do with it. It was REALLY rough. She was hysterical, three different times and difficult to calm down. Advice and tips are much appreciated!

Now for the good part:

I wrapped her fingers around the rattle, but she held onto it and tried to shake it. 😉

She's an awesome baby (most of the time). She likes sounds, watching tennis but can get HANGRY quickly so watch out!

She weighs over 12lbs and is 2+ feet tall. Whoa!

Sweet Vera Lynn

I haven't written a blog since November 24, 2013.

 Is that possible?!

In my last post, I wrote, "Not sure what 2014 has in store..."

 ANOTHER BIG ADVENTURE!

My friend Kelly made a sign for Ironman that said "Today you'll be an Ironman, tomorrow you'll be making babies!"

Well, she wasn't too far off. Simon and I decided it was time for our next adventure in life and in May 2014, I had a positive pregnancy test.

"How are you NOT ABLE to take a shower?"

"Why can't you just put the baby in the car seat and go, so what if it's nap time?"

"Just let the baby cry for awhile, he will stop eventually."

So, those are examples of things I used to say, ok maybe thought, to myself prior to having a baby.

Now I just want to run out, hug and congratulate (nearly) every mom on the planet exclaiming:

"Congratulations! You did it! You made it through the morning, day, night!"

Hands down, hardest job. Ever.

Vera Lynn was born February 9, 2015. At home. Breech. Long story.

She is a great baby. These are a couple pics taken when she was 4 days old by #roundlensphotography.

Haven't quite gotten used to my new life, as a mom. It's like I was moving 100mph then 2mph the next day. I have always been very productive, I was brought up that way, not much "sitting around".

Having a newborn has already caused me to take a step back, sit, and enjoy as many precious, quiet (or sometimes not so quiet) moments as possible before they all just fly by and I've missed them.

Pre-Vera, I had said I would blog every day. 

Can't be that hard, you're sitting around a lot right?

Yikes.

So here we are, Vera is 7 weeks old!
